Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE)

Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is a synthetic fluoropolymer of tetrafluoroethylene that has numerous applications. The best known brand name of PTFE-based formulas is Teflon by DuPont Co., which discovered the compound.

PTFE is a fluorocarbon solid, as it is a high-molecular-weight compound consisting wholly of carbon and fluorine. PTFE is hydrophobic: neither water nor water-containing substances wet PTFE, as fluorocarbons demonstrate mitigated London dispersion forces due to the high electronegativity of fluorine. PTFE has one of the lowest coefficients of friction against any solid.

PTFE is very non-reactive, partly because of the strength of carbon–fluorine bonds and so resistant to reactive and corrosive chemicals. Where used as a lubricant, PTFE reduces friction, wear and energy consumption of machinery. It is also commonly used as a graft material in surgical interventions.

PTFE is a thermoplastic polymer, which is a white solid at room temperature, with a density of about 2200 kg/m3. According to DuPont, its melting point is 327°C. It maintains high strength, toughness and self-lubrication at low temperatures down to −268.15°C, and good flexibility at temperatures above −79°C.

POM (Polyoxymethylene)

Components made of POM have excellent wear and sliding characteristics, particularly in the dry-running range of the bearing elements. The material is tough and maintains good stability of shape at different temperatures. POM has high resistance to various fluids with low water absorption due to its chemical structure. It is often used as base material for bearing elements and support rings.

Polyetheretherketone  (PEEK)

PEEK is used for custom made parts and back up rings for special high pressure due to it's features:

 - high temperature performance

 - wear/abrasion resistance

 - dimensional stability

 - high purity

 - chemical/plasma resistance

 - high tensile strength

 - high compressive strength

 - high operating temperature

 - short time temperature range up to +310°C

 - long time temperature range up to +260°C

Custom moulded parts would be mainly for the following applications:

 - electric/electronic

 - automotive industry (engines)

 - aerospace

 - chemical,medical and food industry

Polyamide 6 Cast

Polyamide 6 Cast is a high-molecular polyamide. It features good wear resistance and sliding properties. The water absorption and resulting change in volume can be catered for by increasing housing tolerances. It is mainly used for bearing elements and support rings. It features the following properties:

- semi-cristalline material

- higher water absorbtron vs. POM

- increased temperature stability by heat stabilisation

- Filled with glasfiber, MoS2, PTFE, and other

- temperature range -35°C up to +190°C

Polyurethane (PU)

The material characteristics of polyurethane make it better resistant to abrasions, cuts, cracking, oil, grease, chemicals, high impact and heavy loads.  It is virtually immune to ozone and oxygen. Its temperature range is -45°C to +110°C.
