Container Vessel Support Pads

ACM 811 Material

Due to the continuing and common problems associated with the currently used support pad materials ACM Bearings Ltd has, in conjunction with a number of major ship owners and fleet managers, developed a new type of plastic material that satisfies all requirements of this very arduous application.

This newly developed material because of its excellent bearing characteristics coupled with its high load capability has been successfully trialled on a number of vessels resulting in reduced maintenance and zero down time. Consequently ACM Bearings Ltd is now supplying container vessel support pads to major ship owners and fleet managers worldwide.

The use of the ACM 811 material also prevents marine growth, cathodic chalking and bimetallic corrosion making them it the ideal solution for this application.

The competitive price of the ACM 811 material offers the ship owner/fleet manager considerable reduction in costs for both new build and repair over conventional bronze/bronze graphite pads. A further cost advantage is that the ACM pads have no after sales value hence total elimination of theft during loading and unloading of the containers is achieved.

In addition it has been proven that the wear of the ACM 811 material is considerably less than the conventional bronze/bronze graphite support pads hence longer life is achieved - a further cost reduction. Also, because of the higher load capability of the ACM 811 material when compared to bronze, spreading under load does not occur hence the removal of the pads for inspection/replacement is less time consuming resulting in a further cost reduction.

Wear Rings & Bearing Strips

For Hydraulic Cylinders

ACM Bearings Ltd has been developing, manufacturing and supplying highly engineered composite wear rings and bearing strips for use in hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders for over twenty years.

The ACM range of materials have been specially developed to meet the demands of applications requiring medium to high load capability, low wear, low friction and long life.

Corporate brand colour e.g. orange, navy, red, is also available for volume or OEM customers. Standard wear rings for use as rod and piston guides for medium to heavy duty hydraulic cylinders can be manufactured in a variety of fabric reinforced materials including polyester and cotton phenolic composites. ACM use the latest manufacturing standards and can machine up to 1.3 metres in diameter.

The full range of materials has excellent damping characteristics with low swell and possess excellent chemical resistance. For the use of wear rings and bearing strips for cylinders operating in nonstandard chemicals ACM Bearings Ltd can offer specially formulated grades to suit the application. Standard bearing strips can be supplied in thicknesses from 2 mm to 5 mm and widths from 5 mm to 50 mm with lengths of 5 metres long enabling cylinder diameters in excess of 1.5 metres to be fitted in one complete strip. These bearing strips are manufactured using the latest and up to date machinery resulting in accurately controlled tolerances being achieved with zero curvature on the length allowing for easy installation.
